Newbury Hockey Festival was established in 1981… and we are still playing on 3 grass pitches.

 

In 2020 we are looking to make the event even more amazing!

 

The theme is V-E Day! May Day is traditionally held on a Monday but will be put back to Friday 8 May 2020. VE Day, or Victory in Europe Day, marks the day towards the end of World War Two when fighting against Nazi Germany came to an end in Europe. Why is 2020 such a special year? 8 May 2020 it will be 75 years since the guns fell silent at the end of the war in Europe.

 

With this in mind Newbury Hockey Festival wants to embrace the bold history and help celebrate. The festival will run from Friday 8 May - Sunday 10 May with the campsite opening on Thursday evening.

The festival format will be the same but 1 day shifted forward. Shenanigans will begin on Thursday night with Classic Karaoke and finish on Saturday night with the top-notch fancy dress party at a secret venue!

This year A Breakfast roll and Drink are included in the Weekend ticket price.

 

Being just a 5-minute walk from Newbury town centre, it gives you the option to pop in and out as you please, we welcome all teams of all ages including men's, ladies and mixed sides and there is no limit to squad size.

 

We like to make sure everything you need is available.

 

We offer camping within walking (stumbling) distance of the pitches. (campsite opens Friday pm of the event)

• A fully stocked clubhouse supplying us with jugs, with many varieties but by far the most popular ‘Purple Nasty’ – Purchase tokens in advance and save. Contact us for more information

• Food – much needed to help soak up some of the alcohol – Selected meals provided  – plus a food van is on-site all weekend or the town centre is only a few minutes walk away

• A top-secret night out in Newbury town to an exclusive event at a local venue for the big fancy dress finale.

• Friday, Saturday & Sunday night entertainment including Karaoke, a Disco and some secret extras
